Camping---
Nearby restaurants & bars (pack a lunch for your visit to White Oaks because the only food there is what you shoot, scrape up off the road, cook and eat...you're very welcome, though, to bring food into the White Oaks Saloon & Social Club where you'll find a cold beer or cocktail to go along with it....Carrizozo Joe's makes some great sandwiches to go)---

The Outpost Bar (world famous). The former restaurant critic of the EL PASO TIMES says, "Forget the mythical "Owl's" green chile cheeseburger...The Outpost is the temple." A world-class experience, but plan on taking your time. This place operates at its own speed. SMALL fries, by the way.

Carrizozo Joe's, Rt. 54 main street, Carrizozo, NM--- Yes, Carrizozo has a coffee house (and it's also a one-terminal internet cafe). Great one-item menu sandwich with bread made on location. Stop buy, connect and get a cuppa joe buzz.
Fran's Pizza, Rt. 54 main street, Carrizozo, NM. "I'm gonna go out west and start me a pizza parlor....and she did. If you're a garlic lover, the place to be.

The Four Winds (they'd just as soon you go on ahead and eat at Casino Apache, though, from the looks of Carrizozo's new, most dominant feature, a billboard/lightning rod bigger than some Latin American countries.)

Paul's Coffee Cup Mexican Food, kind of near the second curve when you're travelling north. Open 10-2 M-W-F and pretty much when Paul wants to, normally...well, we'll get back to you. If you have but one choice, make it The Outpost and start your diet tomorrow.
Roy's Gift Shop (& Ice Cream Parlor), (Old Payton Drug Store), Rt. 54 main street. A building with some history to it and good for an old fashioned ice cream soda.
The TexAco Cafe, junction of Rt. 54 & 380. Okay, it's a Texaco, but they bake up some pretty good cinamon buns in the morning in a slick restauranat operation that also turns out decent (okay, define decent...) Mexican and pizza fast-food. Hey, this ain't New York City. The nearest McDonald's is about 70 miles to the south...and people sort of like it that way.
