An adolescent's dream come true: Ivy Heymann, raised in the southern United States, got hooked on pottery in high school. She continued her education for six years, passing through Miami Dade Junior College, the University of Miami, and the University of Tennessee.

POTTER IVY HEYMANN

Apprenticeships in Georgia, North Carolina, New Mexico and Washington were only part of her continuous education which included numerous workshops. Influences on her work include Asian and American folk pottery.

WHITE OAKS POTTERY

Her pottery is made of porcelain, thrown by hand and slab built. Fired to 2400 degrees, all glazes are home made in a palette representative of the White Oaks environment.

The millennium inspired new forms and glazes and a facelift for the gallery. Her works are displayed in a serene loft above her studio, where the windows echo the colors and simplicity of her work. Focused on form and function, the result is a simple elegant beauty.

Ivy was featured in the March, 2001, issue of Ceramics Monthly. Read what they had to say---
